In 2009, many folks will resolve to:
- Save money
- Spend more time with family and friends
- Get fit
Well, us too. So we have an idea for Mary's Cakes & Pastries that may sound incongruous.
We're starting a free book and movie exchange at Mary's. A corner of our shop will be dedicated to books and DVDs. The idea is you bring in a book or movie and trade it for a new one. Well, new to you. We all have books and movies that we have read or watched. They collect dust on the shelf while we search for new entertainment. Instead of spending money on new books, new DVDs, or movie rentals, save your money and trade for free. No gimmicks and no charge and no purchase necessary. It's absolutely FREE!!
So stay home and read a new book, or watch a DVD with your friends and family. It's a lot cheaper than going out. Then bring back the book or DVD and trade it for another. No memberships needed, no cards, no cash. Only three rules:
- You get a one-for-one trade, bring one DVD, get one DVD. Bring two, get two. Of course you are welcome to donate additional books or DVDs to the exchange should you happen them just laying around...
- No bootleg DVDs. After all, it IS against the law.
- No adult content (you know what I mean...), we're a family-friendly establishment.
And we've resolved to make some healthier treats in the new year such as sugar free gelato, chocolate dipped dried or candied fruits, and fat-free macaroons. Oh we'll still have all the bad stuff, but a few guilt-free (or less guilty...) treats are welcomed by us as well as our customers. Enjoy them while watching a movie at home... We also resolve to have a low calorie salad option for lunch at least once a week.
So finish up your holiday treats and stop by in January. We're closed now, but we open back up on Tuesday, January 6.
