We do a lot of "pretty" cakes. For weddings. For anniversaries. For bridal showers. For mom's birthday. For "my wife's" birthday. You get the picture.
But when it comes to ordering a cake for a guy, most people are at a loss. Usually it's round chocolate cake. Or chocolate and peanut butter. But sometimes a plain chocolate cake just won't do and we get a number of rather unusual requests for themed cakes for guys.
There was this motorcycle last Friday, which was actually a white cake. The only instructions were to make it red. It turned out pretty cute I think.
Or this dart board. It's chocolate cake with chocolate ganache with just a hint of black food coloring to make it, er... black (we really don't like using black buttercream). The only thing missing are the darts, which were added at the party in the form of actual (sharp) flying objects. Hopefully they were placed, rather than thrown, on the cake.
Or this drum. Chocolate cake (again) with chocolate buttercream and "lugs" made from gum paste covered in silver luster dust. White chocolate fondant covered the top of the cake and a set of real drum sticks sat on top (presumably a birthday present).
Or this 'gone fishin' cake, designed by the 11-year-old birthday boy himself. The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream (do you sense a flavor theme here?). With a bass coozie (for his sodas of course...), real floats and gummy worms.
And one more. Yoda. From Star Wars fame. This was truly a labor of love with about ten different shades of browns, blues and greens, and I am sure it took a lot longer to make than it took to eat.
There are many more on our website, from various animal and hunting themes to a golf bag and green. They are in the celebration cake section and the groom's cakes album.
And just in case you are wondering, no, we don't do body parts.
