This is probably one of the most beautiful wedding cakes we have done in a while.
Only the top tier is traditional wedding cake. The other four tiers are cheesecake -- chocolate marble, strawberry, amaretto, and plain.
And while the cheesecakes are lovely and taste absolutely wonderful, we cannot take full credit for the beauty of this centerpiece. The flowers were added by Ray Taylor, one of the very gifted floral and event designers in Tuscaloosa.
I love watching floral designers work. Ray was very particular about
not poking fowers into the cake -- said he has never done it -- and
each of these flowers was carefully placed one on top of the other to
create the wall of blooms you see between each tier. The flowers
actually rest on a circular cake board that we suspended above each
individual cheesecake.
And, just in case you are not serving cheesecake to 300 guests, we do make smaller ones. It's one of our top desserts for Easter, along with carrot cake and coconut cake.
Oh, and the groom's cake that went with the cheesecake? (Remember this IS the South.) The bride wanted something fun.
So it was a three tier chocolate cake covered with chocolate dipped Oreos, Reeses Cups, and chocolate covered peanut butter cookies. The entire cake is drizzled with soft caramel for that come-eat-me look.
Extra Oreos and Reeses Cups on the side in candy jars.

There is a central column. Its called a tree stand and I am sure you can find one online in the UK. Good luck!!

Hello,
I am a bride to be form England and spotted this beautiful wedding cake not long after becoming engaged in March. I plan to make the cake myself(!) but i am stuggling to understand what type of stand to use. Is each tier held with pillars, or is there a central column in the middle?
Thanks and Love the website!

I bought it online. It's called a tree stand or tiered cake stand. Metal. About $300.

Mary,
I love the wedding cheesecake. Where did you purchase the stand? I'm located in Indiana.
