I'm sure you remember the eponymous book. A baby bird hatches while his mother is away from the nest. It spends the rest of the pages looking for her, asking creature after creature "Are you my mother?"
The three fledglings I've been hearing the past several days have finally left their nest. The parents are nearby giving lots of instructions, but the first things the babies did was hop right over to me, as if to ask "Are you my mother?"
I took these photos yesterday afternoon and by today, they are already good at playing hide-and-go-seek. My biggest challenge has been keeping the dogs out of the back yard.
Anybody know how long before they learn to fly? (And I can let the dogs back in the yard...)
