Today was gardening day. There are four or five storms forecast for this area starting tomorrow, so it was now or never. We pulled lots and lots of weeds, pruned roses, and edged the lawn.
My mom has a particularly nice little garden. It's her pride and joy, especially when it is in full bloom in April. But even in January, it looks much nicer than mine. The soil is nice and dark -- none of that red clay that fills my yard. And none of that below-freezing weather so far this year.
Did I mention we pulled weeds? Two trash carts plus six or seven large boxes. They'll go out to the curb Sunday night to be carted away.
For my efforts, my mom offered me the ripe lemons from the tree. That's THESE lemons. I said no, until I was reminded I could borrow an extra suitcase. And Southwest allows you to check two bags free. It's a big tree with lots of lemons, I'll have to pick them before the rain sets in.
All-righty then. We'll be making lemon squares with these lemons when I get back to Alabama.
Ymmm.
