I'm not a strong person. I don't work out and I eat way too much. I work in a BAKERY!!
However, I'm not lazy or helpless either. If something needs to get done, I just do it.
So that's how I found myself ignoring the excuses for why the planters are not planted. How much certain plants cost at one nursery compared to another. How difficult it will be to replant the window boxes. How there is just not enough time in the day to deal with this twice-yearly effort.
I practically pass "The Plant Lady" on my way to work. Lovely place with lots of pretty plants. Very knowledgeable staff. It was easy.
"I've got two large planters in front of the shop. They get lots of sun. We often forget to water them. I need something large and nice, but tough. And it has to be evergreen."
Two curly ligustrums, some sedum, some "fireworks" purple fountain grass, a couple of potato vines and some vinca. Done. Planted.
Next?
The window boxes... Both the Five and Dime and Anders Hardware are right here in Downtown Northport. I'd want them to come to me when they needed a cake. So I went to them for coco fiber to line the boxes, potting soil and plants.
Done and everyone's happy. Come on down and see how nice it looks.
Now we just have to remember to water the plants.
And I'll be making spinach quiche for lunch next week..
