I'll admit I'm not a huge baseball fan, but it is the great American pastime. It's a long season, and I usually start paying attention in October during the playoffs and World Series. In my defense, I do know all the words, to all the verses, of Take Me Out To The Ball Game. And it's on my iPod playlist.
These are some of our recent and favorite baseball-themed cakes.
First, there's the Kansas City Royals jersey... This one was a groom's cake. We had done football jerseys before, but this was the first baseball jersey.
Then there's the sign from Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, also for a groom's cake. This one came with (red velvet) cupcakes sporting the Cubs logo.
Again, we have done many, many football stadiums (countless versions of Bryant-Denny Stadium, but also, occasionally, Jordan-Hare). This was the first signage (or any part) from a baseball stadium.
We HAVE done baseball cookies by the dozens, mostly for little league players (plus basketballs, tennis balls, volleyballs, soccer balls and footballs).
And a baseball fields -- a round cake decorated like a baseball, but never (yet) a baseball bat.
Then, for this eight-year-old, who could not make up his mind, a little bit of everything.
