One Tuscaloosa couple celebrated their wedding today at Bryant Denny Stadium. On most Saturdays in October that would mean sharing the experience with over 100,000 Tide fans. Today, they (and their guests) had the stadium all to themselves.
And we were able to drive right up to the elevators to The Zone, which is often rented out for weddings and other functions when the stadium is quiet.
Here's the view from the large windows above the north end zone.
And here is the bride's cake. It's a traditional four tier stacked cake with dotted swags and cornelli lace. The flowers were provided by Miriam McFarland but she let us place them on the cake.
The groom's cake was a two tier chocolate and ganache cake, with a rustic look.
A combination of real and silk foliage, chocolate covered strawberries and wood duck decoys completed the scene.
It smelled as good as it looked. Disregard those ugly green things hanging out from middle of the cake. They were put there by the family's personal decorator who apparently never heard of "less is more" and felt he HAD to add something to a perfectly nice cake.
And nobody missed one minute of the game today so they could attend the wedding.
