It's mid-November and we have six more weddings in 2010. They are all special, but this one was all about sparkle.
A beautiful crystal monogram and six yards of gemstone studded garland went around this five-tier stacked cake of alternating octagons and round layers.
Inside is even better... chocolate cake with whipped white chocolate ganache filling; the outside of the cake is also iced in whipped white chocolate ganache (can't do that in the summer when it is 100o+ outside...).
Sparkle gel covers the white chocolate ganache (which hardened nicely in November's cooler weather). Then we dusted the cake with Urban Decay Sparkling Edible Body Powder (we used marshmallow but it also comes in honey, cocoa, caramel and blackberry -- YUM!). So pretty, and it works better on a non-fondant cake than luster dust.
This is a wedding you wanted to be invited to, just to enjoy the cake.
BTW, the grooms cake was equally delicious. Red velvet cake, filled and covered in white chocolate buttercream. Trimmed with houndstooth and red borders, with a large red "A" on the top. Roll Tide!

Love this!
