It was a one-wedding weekend, but that did not limit the number of spectacular cakes to share.
Our wedding cake was small, serving just 30 for an intimate gathering, and the bride was a special friend.
We were so happy to be able to help her celebrate. She's usually behind the scenes at weddings and this design was her favorite, a cascade of lace with buttons and fresh flowers from Jester's.
Congratulations Melissa, we wish you love and happiness.
This second cake was for a 20th birthday. Chocolate cake. Black and white zebra on the bottom. Black ganache on the top. Serves about 40. The many flowers are all gum paste with pink luster and disco dust. The "20" is also gum paste, with white royal icing details.
The next cake was for a baby shower with a pink and blue theme. The colors were robins egg blue and flamingo pink, and there were egg shaped shortbread cookies with gold speckles, and pink flamingos with blue eyes.
The tiers are separated by a hand-made wrought iron cage holding white roses and eucalyptus leaves, with more roses on the top. The cake stands on a coordinating wrought iron leaf and bird pedestal.
Then came the birthday cakes. A "tutu" inspired cake for a birthday with an Angelina Ballerina themed party.
Lots and lots of ruffles and flowers in pink, pink and more pink!
I am sure that Simone and her friends are going to dance off all that sugar...
Then we did a very cheery cake with lots of bright flowers.
The bottom tier is iced a hot pink with green stripes (we call these dot-stripes). The top tier is neon orange with pink hearts.
Dozens of colorful daisies accent this cake, with not a dull shade in the bunch.
It would make anyone happy on a dreary winter day like today.
Had some flowers left over that the customer didn't want to take so we repurposed them into prizes for the cookie throwdown.
There was also a cute Mickey Mouse Hat cake, a Peace Sign cake, and several cupcake orders. We have a new cupcake shop in town and cupcakes are suddenly popular here.
Next week is Valentines Day and we'll be making heart shaped cakes and cookies. Can hardly wait!!

I "like" you on Facebook. Would love these for my oldest boy!

Flowers are always fun, whether real or buttercream or gum paste or fondant. About the only ones I don't like are the fake silk ones. Be sure to look up the flower on a reliable toxic plant list before you place on the cake. Many common flowers such as daffodils and calla lilies are toxic.

Your cakes with flowers are beautiful. I have never put real flowers on cakes but will give it a try as I like the fresh look. I am also not a commercial baker but experiment at home.
