The customer wanted to add a *password* to her order. If anyone comes to pick up the cake or calls to make changes to the order, they must know the password.
I was speechless.
But it was not the strangest request we have ever had.
A few years back the mother of one of our brides called to cancel her daughter's cake. "Cancel the cake, the wedding is off" she said. (But the bride had no idea her mother was canceling the cake.)
This weekend's customer apparently had a recent experience that precipitated the need for total control of the cake and its design.
I'm still speechless. And, while we have honored her request and informed our staff of the security measures requested, it's going to be very difficult not to at least crack a smile when she comes in to pick up the cake.
What do you say? "Umm, before I can give you the cake, you have to tell me the secret password?"
This should be interesting, I can hardly wait.
