Several mornings after, I still go there. The bookmarks are still on my desktop. I'm not quite ready to delete them.
And we still get messages on Facebook that folks are having to adjust their daily routines.
The contest officially ended three days ago.
Ah, but other things are getting done.
We made croissant dough yesterday. Today I'll roll in the butter and make pastries. The recipe I used calls for 14-pounds of flour. Those pastries will only last a few days and I'll have to do it again.
We're out of coconut meringues. And biscotti. Two of the more laborious cookies we make.
Not counting the usual suspects... this week's custom cakes, buttercream, dessert cakes, cookies, cupcakes and pastries, that 80-quart mixer would sure come in handy.
Then there is the box of sugar substitutes we got in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Confectioners, brown and granulated sweeteners made from xylitol. They were samples so we could experiment. We'll use them to make sugar-free cookies and pastries. That will get done this week too.
A week from Saturday is opening day at Bryant-Denny Stadium. So we'll be making hundreds of our signature items from the contest, Alabama themed shortbread cookies.
The Tide opens against Kent State on September 3. Kent State is in the backyard of the sponsors of the contest.
The contest winners are announced on September 6.
Coincidence?
