We use a sieve to sift confectioners' sugar at the bakery. A really big one with a fine mesh screen and plastic rim. It fits nicely over a large bowl and makes quick work of sifting large quantities of sugar.
You gotta get your hands dirty with these, but it's totally worth the trip to the hand sink to wash up afterwords.
For the sieve to work efficiently, it has to fit over the bowl snugly, so know the dimensions of the bowl before you shop, or buy both bowl and sieve together.
